VET sport and recreation students at St Paul's Anglican Grammar School have been empowered to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in the future by learning vital life skills in first aid.
They spent a day learning first aid from a qualified instructor and have now completed their own first aid certificate - HLTAID011.
Learning about the Danger, Response, Send, Airway, Breathing, CPR and Defibrillation action plan (DRSABCD), the students have learnt first-hand how to deal with situations that involve anaphylaxis, asthma, burns, sprains and strains, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Students are now equipped with first aid knowledge that they can apply in future emergencies.
