Santa visits Mt Baw Baw

Mt Baw Baw made a Christmas in July wish for snowfall - and Santa certainly delivered.
The resort yesterday reported 30cm of fresh snowfall, with a natural snow depth of 60cm on the summit and 10cm across the village. In snowmaking areas, there is 50cm of snow.
Following snowfalls of 15cm on Saturday, there is further snow forecast down to 600m above sea level.
Whilst great news for keen skiers and snowboarders, the resort stated Saturday afternoon's falls made for a hazardous drive home for inexperienced drivers.
Nearby Mt Gwinear also enjoyed the 15cm of fresh snow on Saturday night, with a cover of 18cm to welcome weekend visitors.
Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort guest services officer Amon Bradshaw said a cold and dry start to the winter season provided "the best snow-making conditions in years".
"We now have a good base around the resort to open more terrain," Mr Bradshaw said.
In the past fortnight, Mt Baw Baw celebrated Christmas in July, with Santa bringing a dumping of 30cm over two days.
The resort was packed for the occasion, with families meeting Santa as the snow flakes fell.
Mr Bradshaw described visitation this season as "a typical year", noting several occasions of reaching capacity, especially for tobogganing.
"We are seeing some sell-outs for lift passes and tobogganing after school holidays on weekends, but good availability for beginner ski lessons and some free properties for accommodation," Mr Bradshaw said.
He urged locals planning to visit the resort to check conditions, check the live cameras and consider visiting midweek or arriving before the 11am "weekend rush".
