A local resident has questioned what flood mapping was used in approving a 28-house development in Tarwin St, Warragul.
Kerry Elliott posed five flood management questions at the recent Baw Baw Shire council meeting.
Chief executive officer Mark Dupe said council had accepted a stormwater strategy for this site, prepared by Incitus, outlining the treatment, outlet connection and safe conveyance of gap flows for the Tarwin St site.
Based on the Warragul drainage strategy, Mr Dupe said total treatment levels required could be achieved under the existing wetland.
He added the one per cent annual exceedance probability flood level was 112.8m above sea level and all lots would be a minimum of 300mm above this.
In response to Ms Elliott's question on necessary flood mitigation works identified in Yarragon, Trafalgar, Warragul and Neerim South modelling and studies, Mr Dupe said retarding basins at Rollo St and Hazeldean Rd were identified in Yarragon, a retarding basin at the western section of Trafalgar was under construction, and minor drainage works at the rear of Kookaburra Grove had been completed in Neerim South.
He added the C144 flood mapping was no longer on council's website as "the amendment was abandoned".
