A Nar Nar Goon intersection where five crashes including one fatality have occurred in the past five years will be upgraded over the next three months.
The works at Bald Hill Rd and Five Mile Rd intersection are being undertaken under the Federal Government's blackspot program.
Included are creation of a right turn lane, shoulder widening, sealing of 30 metres in Five Mile Rd and a permanent reduction to the speed limit from 100 to 80 kilometres per hour.
Cardinia Shire said during the works there will be lane closures and traffic management, traffic and footpath detours and reduced speed limits.
