After a slightly drier than average summer and autumn in the district the first month of winter produced steady rain with falls registered at Warragul and Nilma North well above the June average for the past 115 years.
A total of 127 millimetres of rain was recorded at Warragul for the month with Nilma North receiving 110.6 millimetres.
The June average for Warragul is 85.5 millimetres.
Last month's rain boosted the total for the first half of the year to close to the average of 433.7 millimetres; Warragul's total of 445.4 slightly above the average, Nilma North just below at 424.6 millimetres.
It has been a similar trend to last year when there also was below average summer and autumn falls followed by a wet June.
Last year, June rain at Warragul was 153.6 millimetres, the most for that month in 45 years.
As the crow flies Mount Baw Baw is not that far from Warragul but its higher elevation puts it on a different level to the rest of the district as far as rain is concerned.
And it had some welcome moderate falls of snow to kick off the ski season last month.
The Bureau of Meterology's recordings at the mountain's resort totalled 199.2 millimetres of rain in June bringing the year's total to 822 millimetres, almost double the amount that has been registered at Warragul and Nilma North.
