Warragul and Drouin both head away from home in round five of the Gippsland League.
With matches against bona fide top five sides to come, they're going to have to work hard to bring home the four points.
Traralgon vs Warragul
Warragul are riding high after their second win of the year as they head down the highway to face off against Traralgon.
The Gulls bounced back in style against Morwell last week, putting in a complete team effort to pull off the victory.
Nick Mulqueen starred in a midfield masterclass, with three goals to go along with it, while James Davidson and Patrick Mulqueen were excellent defensively.
Now it's about backing it up. The Gulls haven't won two in a row for some time, and they'll be up against it here when they face one of the league's true premiership contenders.
Traralgon have now been long associated with success, and have won their past three to sit third on the table.
They were challenged at various times by Drouin last week, but their quality shone through for long enough to see them win.
Spearhead Brett Eddy remains vital to their plans. With coach Jake Best on the sidelines, Eddy has now become the lone spearhead and is playing his role to effect.
He kicked 6.7 last week, taking his season total to 13 despite some inaccuracy.
The Gulls will have to figure out how to negate his influence if they are to steal a win here.
They'll also have learn how to compete against a genuine star team for long enough, given their two last attempts against Moe and Leongatha didn't end so well.
Looking to recent history makes them look a decent prospect, however. The Gulls are 3-3 from their last six visits to the Maroons' fortress, and are 5-5 overall in their last 10 meetings, including a famous victory at Western Park last season.
With no changes to their winning side, they'll enter feeling relatively settled.
It's a big challenge, but we'll see if they're up to it.
Wonthaggi vs Drouin
Drouin's search for a first win this year travels to the coast when they meet Wonthaggi away from home.
The Hawks have been highly competitive for stretches of time but just haven't been able to put it together for long enough to get a result.
Their loss to Traralgon almost epitomised their year thus far. The first quarter, the Hawks were blown off the park. The second, they blew Traralgon off the park. Then a few lapses happened and the rest became a wrestle that the Maroons got the best of.
They've been able to capture some respect from the rest of the league, but unfortunately honourable losses are still just that. Losses.
Wonthaggi will be a difficult prospect for them to break through against, given their aims this year will be high.
The Power evened their 2023 record last year with a big win over Maffra, after disappointing defeats to premiership fancies Leongatha and Moe.
To be 2-2 may have left some Power fans a little disappointed, but they should still be thereabouts come the end of the year.
Wonthaggi have won their past four matches against Drouin, including two wins by 68 and 102 points respectively.
Aaron Pawel will miss through injury, leaving it likely that the duo of Alex McMillan and Ryan Taylor will have to shoulder the ruck work again.
Drouin have been pushing for a number of weeks now, can this be the week they break through?
Other games
Maffra
hosts Morwell in a battle between two sides that have had their share of struggles this year.
The Eagles remain winless thus far, a round one draw against Bairnsdale being the closest they've come, as they look to rejuvenate their list.
They've been competitive in patches, but their loss against Wonthaggi last week pointed to how much their squad has changed in recent years compared to their all-conquering old selves.
Morwell have sunk to 1-3 and just haven't looked like the side that burst into finals last season. Lose here and they're in real trouble.
Bairnsdale heads to Parrot Park to take on the very best in Leongatha.
The Redlegs' improvement has been evident with their new recruits and they remain in the top five, but they were found wanting last week against Moe.
Leongatha, meanwhile, reminded the competition of their power as they utterly obliterated Sale in their grand final rematch.
The Parrots were unstoppable, as Jenson Garnham kicked 11 and Jack Ginnane booted eight to give them their biggest win ever against the Magpies.
Good luck, Redlegs. The rest of the competition wishes you well.
Finally, Moe will be out to challenge their past when they travel to play Sale.
The Lions' drought at "The Nest" is one of the longest running in the league, Moe's last win at the ground coming all the way back in 2002.
They've lost 19 straight there since, and this weekend presents their best opportunity in some time.
Sale are spluttering at 1-3 and currently sit eighth.
Should they lose to the undefeated Lions here, suddenly the top five is getting away from them, a far cry from last year's run to the grand final.
