State school students from across Victoria will take the stage at John Cain Arena this Saturday for the Victorian State School Spectacular (VSSS).
Joining the orchestra for her fourth and final consecutive year is Warragul Regional College year 12 student Scarlett Schutte.
Playing the violin, Scarlett will be on stage alongside a cast and crew of 2500 Victorian government school students for the 30th anniversary VSSS performance.
The theme for this year's show "On Air" will explore the element that unifies everyone - air. Following the metaphor of air, through music, dance and performance, the show will investigate concepts of facing one's fears, breathing in one's self belief, through to the stories heard on the wind in a children's lullaby.
Ahead of her final time performing in the VSSS, Scarlett said she had "so many feelings".
"I'm really excited like I am always with all shows, but it's sad to know it's my last and I'm actually leaving," she said.
"Being on that stage with everyone is awesome and to know that it's my last time while I do it is surreal, but it's also really sad."
Scarlett travelled to Melbourne every Sunday since March to rehearse with the other members of the 75 piece orchestra, under the guidance of musical director Chong Lim AM.
"Rehearsal is always fun, cheery, there's so many jokes to be made, there's never a dull moment," Scarlett said.
This year's VSSS will feature more than 42 musical items, with music from Sheppard, Max Richter, Queen, Gotye, Ibrahim Maalouf, Sergio Medes, Karl Jenkins, Gloria Estefan, Top-loader, Connor Price, Six60 and an original piece specially commissioned by Kai Chen Lim.
Scarlett said her favourite piece in the line up is "Harvest Moon".
Reflecting on her time performing in the VSSS, Scarlett said being involved in the program helped her grow as a musician and as a person.
"It's helped me with my skills with the violin so much, it helped me have access to things that I never would have had anywhere else," she said.
"Even just as a person, (it has helped me) get a bit more out of my shell, make so many new friends."
Scarlett encouraged other young musicians and performers take part in the VSSS if they had the chance.
"It's definitely the best thing I've ever done," she said.
The Victorian State School Spectacular will perform two shows at John Cain Arena this Saturday September 13 at 1pm and 6:30pm.
