Warragul Lions has delivered the West Gippsland Hospital's number one medical equipment need this year, a new ventilator for the emergency department and medical unit.
Warragul Lions Club and the Australian Lions Foundation provided $51,000 to buy the machine. The ventilator helps keep a patient's lungs working and is especially needed as the hospital continued to experience an increased numbers of patients with respiratory issues.
Key hospital staff were on hand to thank Warragul Lions' representatives at the handover of the ventilator from manufacturer Draeger and to provide them with a demonstration of how the machine works.
The club has been a consistent supporter of the hospital over many years was as assisting a number of other organisations within the district.
Donations this year have totalled in the order of $100,000; that's a lot of $2 sales at its regular sausage sizzles that are a major fund-raiser.
