Libraries offering residents tools to help energy efficiency

Libraries have been lending much more than books for many years and now they've added kits to help people save on their energy bills.
Myli libraries have joined with Gippsland shires - Baw Baw, Cardinia, Bass Coast and South Gippsland - to lend home energy, water efficiency kits and portable induction cooktops efficiency kits containing resources and tools to help residents reduce their costs and carbon footprints and make sustainable choices.
The kits provide access to meters to monitor electricity consumption, thermal imaging cameras to identify heat loss and water monitoring devices.
They are available to borrow at no cost from local libraries.
Baw Baw shire mayor and Myli board chair Annemarie McCabe said the partnership with the three neighbouring shires would have a lasting positive impact on the environment.
It will lead the way towards a greener and more resilient future, she said.
Cardinia mayor Tammy Radford was also enthusiastic about the project saying the kits were a great way for residents to gather insights about the energy efficiency of their homes and implement energy efficient practices.
