Warragul Community House is setting out to help local people understand food security with a World Food Day event.
Is food insecurity increasing? Why? How much has the problem grown in recent years? How can we help?
Food insecurity is one of the greatest challenges facing communities. Food security is when people have enough food at all times to keep them active and healthy. Unfortunately, many individuals and families don't have food security.
World Food Day is held to raise awareness of the issue of food security and food insecurity across the world.
On Wednesday, October 18 from 10.30am to 12.30pm, community members are invited to hear what food insecurity is like in Baw Baw Shire, what help is currently available and how you or your organisation can help.
There will be speakers from various organisations to describe the current situation in the community, time to ask questions and time to talk to others about how our community can work together.
Local organisations such as Food Relief Warragul, Longwarry Lions Food Relief and Neerim South Food Relief will be part of the event with other organisations also invited to attend.
The Warragul Community House Multicultural Friendship Group will provide morning tea.
