Art-Ability opens today
In celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, disability service provider Aruma will open its "Art-Ability" exhibition today.
Held at McGregor Park Hall in Trafalgar, the three-day exhibition will showcase the talent of local artists with a disability across Gippsland.
More than 40 entries have been received from individuals and local specialist schools across the region.
Club Aruma participant Jodie has entered the exhibition with her artwork, "Multicoloured Vertical Garden". Jodie said she loved art as a way to express herself, her ideas and imagination.
Another Club Aruma participant Tanya entered two footy themed mosaics in the exhibition, one of the Essendon mascot Moz, and the other of the Geelong mascot, Sam Tomcat. She loves that art is fun, and that she can be herself while doing it.
Aruma executive general manager shared living Chris McGlenchy and Member for Monash Mary Aldred will attend the opening alongside artists, friends and family. The public are invited to attend in celebratation of the artists and International Day of Persons with a Disability.
"We've been blown away by the response from local artists and community groups who have taken up the opportunity to get involved," Chris McGlenchy said.
The exhibition will officially open tomorrow from 11am to 1pm and will remain open on Thursday and Friday between 10am and 2pm.
