Getting scientific? How terrific!
Local kids had the chance to learn about all things science at last week's inaugural STEM Zone Family Science Festival at Lardner Park.
Featuring a variety of activities including colour chemistry, laser light shows, flying drones and live animals, more than 2000 people attended the event.
Some real-life local scientists also made presentations on their respective fields, showing how living rurally is no barrier to a fulfilling career in science.
STEM Zone co-founder Carissa Kelly said the day "went excellently."
"It all ran really smoothly, especially after we got more space at Lardner Park close to the day," she said.
Ms Kelly said due to the day's success STEM Zone were already making plans to do it all again next year.
"We know now that it's going to be embraced by the community which is so exciting. We've learned a lot and we'll definitely be coming back next year."
