Warnings for parking on nature strips

Letter box drops may be undertaken in "problematic areas" to remind residents not to park on nature strips.
Baw Baw Shire said it prioritised education when it came to enforcing residents parking on nature strips. This may see officers issue a warning and advise owners to park elsewhere if it was a first offences.
The reminder came after local residents last week shared a letter, signed by a Baw Baw Shire officer, on social media.
The letter stated several complaints had been made about vehicles parked on grassed or landscaped nature strips and reminded that it was illegal for residents to park on these areas without an exemption.
Fellow residents were quick to share their experiences of similar letters or nature strip parking issues.
Baw Baw Shire planning and development director Luke Connell confirmed council do undertake letter box drops "in areas where nature strip parking has been identified as problematic".
Mr Connell said the letters served as a reminder.
Whilst education and warnings are key, he added "if there is a public safety concern, or there is a history of non-compliance, the officer may issue a fine".
"This is a state government regulation and Victoria Police also has the power to enforce this law and can issue infringements," Mr Connell said.
