Transport alert: Disruptions on the road and public transport

Motorists are being warned of delays across Victoria as roadworks take place throughout July.

Works are also taking place on the public transport network.

The Department of Transport is coordinating works on the public transport network this weekend by Metro Trains, V/Line, Major Road Project Victoria and the Level Crossing Removal Project, to ensure smooth journeys for those travelling in Melbourne’s south-east.
In addition to regular train and tram replacement buses, dedicated shuttle buses will operate between Caulfield, Rod Laver Arena and the Arts Centre to help passengers get to and from events including the footy, Disney on Ice and the Basketball World Cup.
People are encouraged to check the PTV website to help plan their journey and to allow extra time.

Works on the Monash Fwy include:

  • The outbound lanes of the Monash Freeway closed between Wellington and Stud roads nightly from Sunday July 3 to Thursday July 7 from 8pm to 5am.
  • The Princes Freeway closed outbound under Cardinia Road on Sunday July 3 from 8pm to 5am.
  • O’Shea Road, Berwick is closed in both directions between Clyde Road and Soldiers Road until 5am Monday July 4.
  • Greaves Road, Berwick closed in both directions between Clyde Road and Domain Drive from 9pm Friday July 1 to 5am Monday July 11.
  • Multiple lanes will be closed on sections of the Monash Freeway between Warrigal Road and EastLink in July.

Other works include:

Coaches replacing trains on the Bairnsdale Line between Traralgon and Bairnsdale until Monday July 18. Additionally, coaches will replace some evening and weekend services between Southern Cross and Traralgon during this time, due to network upgrades closer to Melbourne.
