An impressive array of artefacts were exhibited by St Paul's Anglican Grammar School year nine students when they opened the doors to the past during a 'Celebrating Families and Special Persons' exhibition.
Students delved into their family histories and legacies, branching out their family trees to make connections with the past.
The project also involved interviewing a grandparent or special person to discover what it was like growing up as a fifteen-year-old in a bygone era and the students' research culminated in a museum-curation display of relics from their family's past.
Family members and special guests browsed through the collection of photographs, sporting memorabilia, family trees, immigration papers, overseas currencies, old books, newspapers, tools and trophies that were exhibited professionally and with flair.
The exhibits inspired many fascinating discussions about growing up in a past era, with many stories shared over a hot beverage and afternoon tea.
Under the guidance of teachers, the activity formed part of the year nine 'thinking and learning' program at St Paul's, which allows students to personalise their educational experience by becoming more confident in their research and interviewing abilities, reflecting on their own learning, and engaging with the wider community.
