A special event to recognise the service of current and former Australian Defence Force members since 1975 will be held at the Warragul RSL next month.
RSL vice-president Bob Green said the three ADF branches - navy, army and air force - had been involved in numerous conflicts, peacekeeping and peacemaking operations in the post-Vietnam era but often did not get the acknowledgement they deserved.
The function, to be held at the Warragul RSL clubrooms in Albert St starting at 5pm on Sunday, August 6, will include an address by current Warragul Ambulance paramedic Major David Innes who is also is officer commanding 6/10 health support company Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps (RAANC).
Major Innes served on a number of overseas operations including Rwanda on Operation Tamar in 1994.
During his service there he was part of an Australian contingent centred on medical staff that treated many local people and members of the United Nations force that suffered as a result of genocidal civil violence.
Major Innes has also has served in operations including Timor, Iraq and Indonesia.
All people that have served since 1975, their families and RSL members are welcome to attend the event.
