Police believe the driver of a Mazda that sped away from police in Warragul on Friday morning was later involved in the theft of a truck, trailer and excavator.
Baw Baw CIU detectives are investigating the theft from a depot in Anderson St, Warragul.
Shortly after receiving the burglary report, police attended at a church in Wills St at 8.35am where the stolen truck, trailer and excavator were parked at the entrance to the church building.
Arriving at the scene, police said a red Mazda 3 sedan left the carpark, driving across a grassed area to avoid police. The Mazda left the carpark, driving along Wills St and then turning into King St.
Detectives said the same Mazda had evaded police earlier that morning.
