A man who was unconscious in Queen St, Warragul on Saturday night will be summonsed to face charges including assaulting police.
Police were called to Queen St at 6.55pm after receiving a report that a man was lying unconscious on the roadway.
Ambulance Victoria paramedics also attended and assisted to move the man off the road.
Police said as the man woke, he became confrontational and attempted to strike out at police officers.
Police attempted to subdue the man with physical force but he allegedly swung out at officers, assaulting one of the officers in the groin area.
Four police officers were involved in the arrest.
The man was taken to West Gippsland Hospital after being sedated by ambulance paramedics.
The 42-year-old man will be summonsed to appear at court for assaulting police.
