The lack of details of where the state government will allocate its regional and rural roads maintenance funding has been attacked by Member for Narracan Wayne Farnham.
Mr Farnham said he'd waited 35 days for a written response from Roads Minister Melissa Horne to a question on notice he'd lodged in parliament about where the $780 million allocated in the state budget would be spent.
He had asked for a breakdown of the spending by local government areas and electorates but said the minister's response was that the details weren't recorded because of the "many multiple LGAs and electorates".
The minister should have that data to back-up what she states was being spent, Mr Farnham said.
He stated that regional communities were in desperate need of funding for road maintenance and safety projects and at a time when there have been "savage cuts" to spending in those areas people should know exactly where the money is spent.
"In many locations we no longer drive on the left side of the road, we drive on what's left of the road".
Mr Farnham said Ms Horne had earlier stated that in parliament that $780 million would be spent in regions rebuilding, repairing and resurfacing 10,000 kilometres of roads but now was unable to provide any details.
