Marigolds raise awareness
Orange marigolds will be given away by Inner Wheel Warragul members next week to mark 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence.
International Inner Wheel president Kay Morland from Berwick said the campaign was a vital part of stamping out gender-based violence.
"As a women's volunteer organisation, Inner Wheel members worldwide participate by promoting the campaign, sharing information, organising activities and uniting to make the world a better place for women and girls," she said.
Inner Wheel Warragul members will be at the community kiosk in Palmerston St, Warragul next Wednesday, December 10 - the final day of the 16 day campaign.
Warragul member Joy Vikas said orange marigolds represented harmony in the garden and would be given out to community members to raise awareness about family violence.
"Hopefully people will look at their marigold and have more focus on building respect and gender equality," she said.
A Warragul and District Garden Club member donated the marigold seedlings to grow the plants.
Community members can make a donation with all funds being donated to Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assualt (GCASA).
