A fire at a vacant building in Warragul's central business district was quickly brought under control on Friday afternoon.
Baw Baw CIU are investigating the Napier St fire which was reported at 5.30pm after a community member noticed smoke.
The CFA attended and extinguished the fire.
It is believed a fire was ignited in a wheelie bin inside the vacant commercial building.
Police said the fire destroyed the bin and caused major damage to a brick wall and plaster ceiling of a room.
They allege local youth frequently attend the vacant building which has considerable damage from previous trespassing.
