Bin collection map apology

Confusion reigned as Baw Baw Shire residents received a new flyer outlining bin collection schedules with their rates notices.
Lacking street name details and using small print, resident complaints were made to The Gazette and via social media.
It led to shire planning and development director Luke Connell issuing an apology on Thursday.
"Baw Baw Shire Council is aware of some confusion caused by the waste map that was sent out with the rates notices this month," Mr Connell said. "We apologise for the accessibility issues of this map, and we have already incorporated the feedback provided into the design and production of future waste resources."
"The intention of this map was to present our community with an outline of the bin collection days for their respective suburbs but appreciate this wasn't straightforward and has led to further questions," he said.
Mr Connell said introduction of a new purple-lid glass recycling bin prompted development of this map.
He said production and mailout of the map "did not come at any cost to ratepayers". It was funded by a state government grant issued for the glass recycling bin service.
Confused residents have been directed to a new Waste App, but this left some with further questions. Other residents refused to download the app.
In response, Mr Connell said the shire was developing a waste booklet.
"This booklet can be mailed out upon request or will also be available at our customer service centres from mid-September," Mr Connell added.
