Police are investigating two separate unprovoked assaults in Warragul last week that involved groups of youths.
On Friday night, three teenagers from Longwarry were sitting in Railway Park, Warragul at 9.30pm when they were approached by three youths who allegedly threatened and assaulted them before stealing shoes and a jumper from one of the victims.
Warragul Police senior sergeant Peter Watson said one of the offenders allegedly made threats to kill while another offender kneed one of the victims in the face.
The youths allegedly held one of the victims while they stole his Nike shoes and then demanded he hand over his Nike jumper.
Sen sgt Watson said police were told one of the offenders lifted his shirt and was brandishing a knife which he threatened to use while another offender allegedly told the Longwarry youths he had a gun and would use it.
The three victims, aged 16, 17 and 18-years-old, were able to run from the offenders and attended at the Warragul Police Station.
Sen sgt Watson said police patrolling at the Warragul Railway Station and unaware of the alleged assault, spoke to youths fitting the descriptions of offenders.
A 15-year-old youth from the Latrobe Valley was later questioned by police. The investigation is ongoing.
In another incident on Wednesday afternoon, police were called to Victoria St after a woman was allegedly punched through her open car window when she attempted to stop a group of youths abusing an elderly woman.
Police said a group of about 20 youths were at KFC at 3.15pm when they were asked by staff to leave the store.
When the youths left, the large group dispersed into different directions, according to police.
Police said a group of youths returned at about 3.30pm and began verbally abusing an elderly woman in the street.
Police said a woman sitting in a nearby carpark asked the girls to leave the woman alone.
It is alleged one teenage girl approached the car, a verbal altercation ensued and the girl punched the woman in the face through an open window.
Police are assessing security footage of the area and pursuing the investigation.
