A "Drouin's Got Talent" show, with the emphasis on having fun, was another small but important step towards making the world polio free.
Organised by Drouin Rotary Club as part of Rotary International's End Polio Now campaign, the night raised $840 with local club members joined by fellow Rotarians from Bunyip-Garfield and Moe and members for the Committee for Drouin having plenty of laughs.
The recently refurbished Drouin Hub facility in Oak St proved an ideal venue for Drouin Rotarians to show their joke telling, acting, singing and dancing skills along with entertaining quizzes and some auctions.
The money raised by Rotary for the campaign is matched two-for-one by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation making nett proceeds from the night more than $2500.
Also popular on the night was the campaigns mascot Polio Koala.
The fight to eradicate polio has seen a worldwide reduction in cases by 99.9 per cent over the past 35 years with only two countries remaining polio-endemic and just 10 cases reported this year.
