After the driest February and March on record rainfall in April was well above average across the district.
But most of it came in a couple of days burst early in the month.
Warragul's 152.6 millimetres was almost double the April average of 80.9 millimetres.
But more than two thirds was registered in two bursts - 75 millimetres in a 24 hour period from April 1 to the following morning.
Another 32.8 millimetres fell over the period April 7 to 9.
Warragul's April rain boosted the year's total to 299.4 millimetres with the dry February-March wedged between well above average falls in January and April.
At the Bureau of Meterology's Nilma North weather station April rain was virtually identical to Warragul with 152.4 millimetres, the 24 hours to April 2 also the wettest day with 68.4 millimetres.
The other significant falls were 26 millimetres on April 7 and 19.8 millimetres on April 24.
There was a good spread of fine weather but temperatures remained moderate with a highest reading of 26 degrees at Nilma North on April 1 with only four other days in the month reaching 20 degrees or higher.
Mt Baw Baw, which is the wettest area in the district also had a much drier than normal February to March - a total of 48.4 millimetres - but rebounded with 237.8 millimetres last month.
