Off the Leash Theatre is going on tour in July to perform "The Children", by British playwright Lucy Kirkwood.
Four of the company's six shows will be performed in West Gippsland, at Algie Hall in Neerim South and the Wesley of Warragul.
"The Children" weaves together environmental issues, baby boomers and the ever intriguing behaviour of human beings.
Director and playwright Jeannie Haughton said the play was "every day but edge-of-seat at the same time".
"When I first came across it, I was dead jealous and wished I'd written it, but I guess Lucy Kirkwood is worth admiring."
Kirkwood is an internationally recognised and multi -awarded British playwright and screenwriter, well known for her television dramas, "Skins" and film, "Chimerica". The play has been decribed as a web of perfect dialogue, perfect nuance and seamless timing by production members.
Actors John Black, Annette O Shea and Rebecca Para have learned the inside-outs of between 10,000 and 15,000 words, and will show off their skills under audiences from across Gippsland.
The actors are support by the Off The Leash committee and artistic director of the company, Kellie Bray, swing cast, Keiran Murphy and Wendy Mathieson, and assistant director Jasmine O'Shea. Amy Moss, Brie Brooker, Gaby Kruithof and Kiera Jarred form the rest of the production team.
O'Shea said the rehearsals were going very well, and the team is excited to present the play to multiple Gippsland communities.
She said the minimal set and small cast for "The Children" has allowed the company to travel much further than usual.
"It's a convesational piece and very interesting... we have three very talented actors."
O'Shea said she expected everyone would enjoy the play, which explored many issues, including what people expect from their lives as they age, and what is being left for younger generations.
"The Children" will appear at Algie Hall in Neerim South from July 14 to 15 at 8pm, Stratford Courthouse Theatre Stratford on July 21, ARC Yinnar on July 22, and the Wesley of Warragul on July 28 and 29.
