Nominations are now open until late next month for Baw Baw Shire's 2024 Australian Day awards.
Described by mayor Annemarie McCabe as a "true celebration of community and a perfect opportunity to shine a light of the unsung heroes of the shire" the annual awards are made in four categories.
They are:-
Citizen of the Year - for demonstrated hard work, dedication and a significant contribution over the current year or a number of years in the fields of arts, culture, sport, recreation, business, the environment or community service.
Young Citizen of the Year - Open to those 25 years old and under on January 26 next year acknowledging leadership skills, as a role model, a noteworthy contriubution during the current year and/or outstanding community service over several years.
Community Organisation of the Year - for organisations or groups that operate within the shire and have demonstrated outstanding community service over a number of years in meeting community needs or priorities.
Community Event of the Year - an event held within the shire during the past year that was organised by a not-for-profit group or organisation.

The closing date is Friday, November 24, and winners will be announced at a ceremony in January.
