Regulations for mandatory face masks have returned for visitors to West Gippsland Hospital.
The decision to mandate masks for all staff and visitors at the hospital was made following an increase in COVID-19 hospitalisations.
A risk assessment undertaken by the hospital's pandemic management committee, which includes representatives from the West Gippsland Healthcare Group's infection control team.
All staff and visitors must wear a surgical face mask in all areas of the hospital including the main reception area and cafeteria.
Staff and visitors must wear an N-95 mask in some clinical areas including the emergency department and medical ward.
Face masks will be available at various stations throughout the hospital for all visitors.
The pandemic management committee will continue to monitor risks and make changes as needed.
The committee said the safety and wellbeing of patients, visitors and staff remained its number one priority.
Community members are encouraged to continue to comply with infection control measures including wearing a face mask, sanitising hands and physically distancing where possible.
