A 19-year-old man from Bunyip was airlifted to Melbourne after a single vehicle collision at Longwarry on Wednesday afternoon.
Police are investigating the collision which occurred on Old Drouin Rd at about 3pm.
An iPhone detected the collision and notified emergency services, police reported.
It is alleged a 1993 Nissan Patrol GQ wagon was travelling along Old Drouin Rd near the Edgar Rd intersection when the driver lost control and hit a large gum tree. The collision caused significant damage to the driver's side of the vehicle and resulted in the man being trapped.
After being released from the vehicle by a CFA road rescue team from Nar Nar Goon and treatment from paramedics, the man was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police, CFA, SES and Ambulance Victoria crews attended the scene.
Police reported a small grassfire was ignited after the collision. The fire was extinguished by a community member.
