Good hand dealt to bridge players

Wednesday afternoons are a "must" in the diaries of about 20 people that get together for a quiet and sociable game of bridge at Warragul's Community House.
But for a couple of keen players among the usual roll-up at the Warragul Bridge Club friendly competition each week there is a special appointment for shuffling the card decks on Wednesday, November 15.
Diane Crowther, who lives at Buln Buln East and is the club's secretary, and Anne George of Drouin will not be the the Community House in Warragul on that day but at the slightly more lavish surroundings of the ballroom at Government House in Melbourne.
The pair was selected by the club to represent it at a special social bridge game along with another 174 players from bridge clubs across the state.
They aren't sure whether Victoria's governor Margaret Gardiner, who took up the position only a couple of months ago, will take up a chair at one of the playing tables.
Neither Ms Crowther, who has been playing bridge for only four years, or 12-year player Ms George are sure of why the club chose them as its representatives but are looking forward to their outing and perhaps even a "high tea" to top off their visit.
Ahead of their big day they got some handy tips from another member Lindsey Robinson of Jindivick, now granted title of Grand Master for his achievements playing bridge over the past 55 years.
