St Paul's Anglican Grammar School junior school students stepped into the wild for their recent community musical of Disney's 'Lion King JR' at the West Gippsland Arts Centre.
In a tale of identity, responsibility and family, the students led the audience on an epic adventure that followed the energetic lion cub Simba in his journey to ascend to king.
The audience was in awe and the students' genuine happiness was evident as they sang beloved songs from the film such as 'Hakuna Matata', 'I Just Can't Wait to Be King', 'Circle of Life' and 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight'.
All students from prep to year six had a part in the performing arts process, whether it was on-stage or assisting behind the scenes.
Students had been rehearsing for months leading up to the show and their commitment to the musical shone on stage through their performances and beaming smiles as they took their bows.
Educators had personalised the performing arts learning experience for students, developing the confidence of year six students to take on lead roles and participate in various ensembles, guiding students who made props, and leading other year levels in their musical numbers and scenarios throughout the performance.
