A burnt out "Mystery Machine" camper van was found after being linked to a series of service station burglaries on Saturday, October 21.
Police said cigarettes valued at more than $30,000 were stolen across three locations in Trafalgar, Newborough and Moe between 5am and 5.30am.
Three offenders are being sought after the early morning burglaries at Astron service station on Princes Hwy, Trafalgar and Liberty Oil service stations on Monash Rd, Newborough and Moore St, Moe.
Police believe the offenders cut locks to gain entry to the premises.
They were seen in a blue and green camper van with flower designs and "Mystery Machine" wording.
A van matching the description with false registration plates evaded police on the Princes Hwy, Trafalgar at about 8.50am. It was found burnt out at Drouin South a short time later.
Police allege the offenders then stole a Mitsubishi Triton from a nature strip in Davey Drv, Drouin.
The vehicle, with registration ASK-906, had a home-made blue trailer attached.
Police believe the vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside. A purse was also in the vehicle.
The trailer was located at Ringin Rd, Drouin South at 2.30pm.
The following day, the Triton was captured on automatic number-plate recognition in Moorabbin. It also has been linked to a burglary in Noble Park.
