Chamber concert presented by GSO

Gippsland Symphony Orchestra will present a Chamber Concert at the Wesley of Warragul on Sunday, July 16.
The concert will feature works for strings and wind, by a variety of composers, including Bach, Sibelius, Holst, Mozart, Brahms, Handel and Marcello.
The smaller, intimate performance will also visit St Joseph's Catholic Church in Korumburra on July 9 and St Mary's Catholic Church in Bairnsdale on July 30.
Romance in C for strings by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius will be one of the many highlights of the concert.
Described as "soulful" and "lush" by GSO musical director David Williams, the piece was composed in 1904 and marked a turning point in the composer's personal life.
As such, it is an emotional piece that takes its audience on a journey.
Brook Green Suite by English composer Gustav Holst will be the final piece played at the concert.
Mr Williams said the piece was originally written for a high school orchestra in 1933.
"It's a lot of fun to play," he said.
Mr Willam's said the concert has a "wide range" of talent and will feature accomplished violinist Ted Pople as a soloist in Bach's Concerto for solo violin in E.
"We are lucky to have him," he said.
In early December the GSO will return in full force to present a collection of works from well-known films. The program will be presented at The Wedge in Sale and the West Gippsland Arts Centre.
The GSO's Chamber Concert will run from 2pm to 3.30pm including an interval on Sunday, July 16.
Tickets are $25 for full price and concession and $10 for students and can be purchased at https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1069276
