Police are urging the community to secure properties and car keys after two vehicles were reported stolen in Warragul on Friday morning.
They believe the thefts are linked due to their close proximity and timeframe.
A Volkswagen was stolen from an address in Emberwood Rd where police allege an offender entered the residence and stole a set of keys left in close proximity to the door.
A stolen bank card was later used at McDonalds, Warragul at about 6.30am. The vehicle is yet to be recovered.
A 2006 BMX X5 wagon was reported stolen from nearby Kurrajong Rd.
Police said the owner woke to the sound of the vehicle being driven from the driveway at about 4.30am.
They believe the offender located car keys in a work bag on the rear porch of the property.
The vehicle was recovered in Eaglehawk on Sunday.
