An ambitious vision to have Bunyip served by 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030 is among finalists in this year's Premier's Sustainability Awards.
The Bunyip Renewable Action Group (BRAG) is a contender for the Community Champion award in the Future Energy category for the actions taken towards its vision.
Sustainability Victoria chief executive officer Matt Genever said the Bunyip group was well underway with its agenda having signed a partnership with an energy company to deliver a 0.8 megawatt solar farm and 1.6 megawatt hours battery next to the Bunyip Showgrounds.
It also hoped to have an electric vehicle charging station located close to the town on the Princes Hwy.
Mr Genever said he was inspired by the work being done by organisations such as Brag that are industry leaders and community champions of a more sustainable future for Victoria.
The sustainability awards recognises and celebrates the achievements of businesses, local government and communities with the community champion award for individuals and small organisations such as BRAG.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Melbourne on Thursday.
