Nilma Darnum ended Ellinbank's unbeaten status with a five-goal win in A grade on Saturday.
It was an exciting game, with the Eagles leading by three at quarter time, scores locked at 25-25 at half-time, and the Bombers getting five straight at the end of the third quarter to lead by four at the last break.
Nilma held a seven-goal lead at multiple times in the last, before Ellinbank cut the margin to two goals with just a few minutes left.
However, Nilma held the lead in a physical final quarter, winning 56-52.
Nilma's midcourters Madlyn Borsato and Rachael Chandler took out their team's awards.
Both goal shooters, Nilma's Hayley Purcell and Ellinbank's Chloe Johnstone, also provided strong targets.
In the absence of normal goal attack Ebony Harper, Ellinbank had Daisy Hill step onto court.
In another top five battle, Neerim South proved a step above Lang Lang, winning 59-23.
The Tigers were in the contest at quarter time. However, the Cats held them to just a combined seven goals in the second and third quarter, to open a 47-14 lead by the final change.
Despite scoring nine goals in the last quarter, the damage had been done and Neerim South remain the only undefeated side.
Neerim South remains on top with a two-game buffer over Nilma Darnum and Ellinbank. Lang Lang is just one game further adrift, with a two-game buffer over five teams fighting for fifth spot.
Two of those sides - Longwarry and Buln Buln - had strong wins on Saturday.
Yarragon could have jumped into fifth spot with a win. However, Longwarry had other ideas, holding out the Panthers 57-53.
The Crows had a great first half, leading by eight at half-time. However, the Panthers didn't let up, and closed the margin to just two goals late in the final quarter. Yarragon's Tayla Green was impressive with 47 goals, while Olivia Jones and Holly Stephens were best for Longwarry.
Buln Buln showed their intent early, opening up a 16-7 lead over Catani at quarter time and 28-15 at half-time.
To Catani's credit, they showed fight in the second half, narrowing the final margin to eight goals.
Trafalgar and Poowong had the byes.
Next week's games: Ellinbank v Lang Lang, Neerim South v Poowong, Buln Buln v Nilma Darnum, Yarragon v Catani and Trafalgar v Longwarry.
