An advertising billboard described as "a blight on our rural landscape" has been deemed prohibited.
The Gazette recently received two complaints of a large billboard on private land in Brandy Creek Rd, Warragul.
After questioning Baw Baw Shire Council, the sign was found to be prohibited under the planning scheme.
Council said a permit had not been granted for the sign and the planning compliance team had contacted the business advising of the breach.
Two enquiries had been made regarding the sign, council added.
A "brick" to the Gazette described the billboard as a massive double-sided advertising sign, labelling it "a huge blot on our skyline".
Warragul resident Braden Jenkin also raised the matter, stating "this billboard is a blight on our rural landscape".
"I should not have to look at such blatant advertising while on a public road on my way into work each day," Mr Jenkin said. "I much prefer the rolling green hills that characterises our community and makes it what it is."
