Learning and laughter were had when renowned bird enthusiast Sean Dooley recently appeared at Drouin Library.
The sold-out event attracted 70 bird lovers to hear Sean share his knowledge about unique endangered birds and the fascinating world of twitching.
Sean also took those gathered on a journey through his book, "The Big Twitch". It details his action-packed quest to break the Australian twitching record - seeing more than 700 birds in 12 months.
He travelled the length and breadth of Australia, meeting plenty of interesting characters along the way, and stopped at nothing in search of his birdwatching Holy Grail, the elusive grey falcon.
Those in attendance also learnt about ongoing conservation efforts and what they could do to help.
Sean said the more data that was collected about birds - especially endangered species - the stronger the case to protect their habitats.
Known as "Birdman", Sean is an author, entertainer and inspirational speaker. He has written for television comedians such as "Full Frontal", "Hamish and Andy" and "Spicks and Specks".
His appearance celebrated the launch of Myli's "Library of Things" bird-watching kits.
The event also was attended by representatives of Friends of Drouin's Trees, highlighting the community's commitment to conservation.
The event concluded with a question and answer session which left everyone inspired and informed.
