Celebrating a successful year of creating, members of the Baw Baw Arts Alliance recently took part in a unique artistic journey dreamt up by Anita George.
Different to most other end of year celebrations, Anita's "Down the Line" celebration involved a challenge - creating a piece of work while travelling on the train.
Despite changes to train timetables, the event attracted a number of artists. Beginning in the Artspaces at Trafalgar railway station, artists were provided with blank canvases, paints and palette knives and started creating their work. After a while, artists swapped their canvases around, adding new elements to each piece.
Armed with their still wet canvases, the artists then boarded a train to Yarragon, for a session of sketching at the Station Gallery and lunch break. Travelling back to the Trafalgar Artspaces, the group added their paper images to the paintings, forming collage works.
The event showcased a novel approach to creating art which members hope to participate in again at the end of 2024.
