The life, times and music of Sir Cliff Richards and Australian music legend Marty Rhone will come together in a new production to premiere at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Saturday, May 14 at 8pm.
"It's an audio visual spectacular like nothing they've ever seen," Rhone told the Gazette of show "Sir Cliff and I".
Rhone said the unparalleled tribute show was created for him by John St Peeters with a giant screen projecting amazing vision of Sir Cliff throughout.
"Cliff is on the big screen, I'm on the boards, and we are singing together," he said, noting a tribute to Freddie Mercury would be a feature.
The Warragul audience can expect all of Richard's greatest hits including "Devil Woman", "Wired for Sound", "Young Ones" and "Summer Holiday" as well as Marty's own hits "Denim and Lace" and "Mean Pair of Jeans" in the two-and-a-half hour show.
Rhone says he shares a synergy with the Richard which dates back to him singing "Bachelor Boy" in his first television appearance as a 14-year-old.
They both were born in Asia, both starred on stage, in films and on television as well as being recording artists with big hit records. And their careers both span over six decades.
"I've always been a fan of his," Rhone said, adding he met Richard a couple of times in the UK during the 1980s.
Having spent the past five years in the USA, Rhone arrived back in Australia last week and considers himself fortunate to be touring and performing live.
He said it had been a really tough few years for the entertainment industry, having reschedule this upcoming tour countless times.
"But we're almost there. I just hope to see a lot of people (in Warragul)."
It has now been over a decade since Marty first presented his record-breaking tribute to the "Prince of Pop". A successful debut US album and appearances in US television series "Preacher", "Bull" and "Harrow" in Australia has seen Rhone become one of this country's most versatile and sought-after performers with a CV that few can match.
Rhone has performed with and in front of some of the biggest names in entertainment, from the Rolling Stones to Yul Brynner, the Bee Gees, John Denver and Peter Allen. He has performed on stage in front of De Niro, Hoffman, Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, the late Princess Grace of Monaco, the late King Hussein of Jordon and the British Royal family.
On consistency of performance, there are few to match him.
Tickets to "Sir Cliff and I" are $69.90 for general, $64.90 for concession, youth and groups, and $64 for members.
