Police are investigating an aggravated burglary involving a firearm in Balharrie Crt, Warragul on Friday.
Police said a man brandishing a rifle knocked on the door of a residential property at 12.30am and a scuffle ensued between the man and three victims.
A 22-year-old man was allegedly hit over the head, which caused the weapon to snap in two.
Police said a 43-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman also emerged from the inside the house and became involved. The 38-year-old woman was allegedly struck across the face with a garden stake by the offender.
The man, dressed in all black, left the property after the altercation.
Police believe the incident is related to another incident in Dunn St on Thursday afternoon in which property damage was reported.
The 43-year-old victim of the Friday morning altercation has been charged and bailed in relation to the incident in Dunn St.
