It was a weekend of upsets, with two teams outside the top five gaining surprising victories on Saturday.
The young Poowong side gained its biggest win of recent seasons, leading third placed Ellinbank all game to win 34-26.
Buln Buln also put together its best performance of the year to upset fourth placed Lang Lang 47-34.
It was nearly a hat-trick, with another improving side in Yarragon leading second placed Nilma Darnum for a large portion of their clash. However, the Bombers came back in the last to win 48-43.
In the remaining game, Trafalgar solidified its fifth place with a 58-36 win over Catani.
It was also a special day for several netball families.
A 500-game superstar at Buln Buln, Danielle Bridger lined up alongside her daughter Ruby in B grade on Saturday. And, for Yarragon, three sisters - Makaela, Samara and Jaslyn Webb - took to the court together in C grade.
In drizzling rain, it was a wet and slippery A grade game at Poowong, resulting in a low scoreline.
After an even start, the Magpies adjusted to the conditions and shot five consecutive goals late in the quarter for a 12-7 lead.
Having taken it to Neerim South in the first quarter before fading last week, the young Magpies learnt their lesson and came out firing in the second, leading 23-12 at half-time.
Whilst the Eagles won the second half, Poowong's defenders made sure to keep the margin beyond reach as they celebrated an eight-goal victory.
Buln Buln's win over Lang Lang provided a similar tale.
The Lyrebirds jumped out to a five-goal lead early, with the Tigers able to hang in - reducing the margin to two at multiple stages. It was 13-9 at quarter time.
However, keeping the opposition to just four goals and two five-goal bursts gave the Lyrebirds a comfortable 27-13 lead at half-time. And, they didn't look back.
Although Lang Lang won the third - with a seven-goal run - it was still a 10-goal margin at the last break, and Buln Buln went on to win by 13 goals.
With scores tied at quarter time, Yarragon stepped up in a big way against Nilma Darnum.
They matched up well, with both goal shooters - Hayley Purcell (45 goals) and Tayla Green (38 goals) - providing targets for their respective teams.
The young Panthers led by one at quarter time and three at the last break, before Nilma fought back. Once they edged in front halfway through the last quarter, they put their foot down, shooting seven consecutive goals for victory.
In the final clash, Trafalgar shot the first seven goals against Catani, and held a strong lead throughout.
The third quarter was the best from the Blues, but the Bloods were simply too strong.
Next week's games: Ellinbank v Neerim South, Yarragon v Lang Lang, Trafalgar v Nilma Darnum and Buln Buln v Poowong.
