United triumph in soccer showdowns

A huge State League 3 women's clash at Baxter Park had Gippsland United against equally matched opposition Mooroolbark.
In an absolute thriller, United won 4-1.
The girls played the ball around well in the first half before captain Tiana Reddiex put the ball in the back of the net to score.
Mooroolbark were quick to equalise, and a 1-1 scoreline was taken into the half-time break.The second half saw both teams step up their game and dig deep. United's defence raised the bar and a late red card to Mooroolbark saw them down to 10.
United were quick to capitalise and put the ball in the back of the net twice more to be up 3-1.
Mooroolbark scored two very late long-range goals to level up the scoreline.
However, with minutes to spare, the United women showed their "never die attitude" and were rewarded for their efforts, putting the ball in the back of the net to take all three points.

Gippsland United emerged victorious with a 3-0 win after a challenging women's match against the Peninsula Strikers.
United showed remarkable resilience after starting with only 10 players and sustaining injuries throughout the game, which reduced the team's numbers to nine.
The weather conditions improved as the match progressed. Both teams displayed great determination and skill, but United proved to be the stronger side. Their precise passing and teamwork helped create scoring opportunities for their front strikers.
Emma Thornton scored two goals, while Mercedes Ince contributed one before being sidelined with an ankle injury.
Despite the competitive nature of the game, both teams exhibited excellent sportsmanship.
United's cohesive play and fighting spirit secured them a well-deserved victory.
