The Warragul Swimming Club made a splash at the Victorian Country Short Course Swimming Championships held at the Gippsland Regional Aquatics Complex in Traralgon earlier this month.
Competing against 32 other swimming clubs from across regional Victoria, the club's swimmers showcased their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship over the two-day event.
The championships saw more than 580 individual athletes vying for top honours in 92 events.
Warragul Swimming Club, with a strong contingent of 42 swimmers, delivered impressive performances across various age groups and disciplines.
Swimmers are only eligible to compete if they have a qualifying official swim time in the race event.
Warragul Swimming Club president Stephanie said "we are incredibly proud to announce that this year, our club has qualified the most swimmers ever for the Victorian Country Short Course Championships."
"This is a testament to our growing community's love for swimming and the dedication of our athletes, coaches, and supporters. We look forward to seeing our swimmers perform at their best and continue to foster a strong swimming culture in our region," she said.
Highlights of the event included:
Outstanding performances for team points were Cerys Nicholson (86 points), Campbell Nicholson (82 points), Logan Gibson (63 points), Thomas Sahhar (48 points), Mollie Dennis (24 points), Troy Oswald (14 points), Aidan Pendlebury (12 points), William Upston (8 points), Ayvah Dennis (6 points), Isabelle Nash (6 points) and Sienna Wood (6 points).
A medal tally of one silver medal and nine bronze medals.
All Warragul swimmers achieved amazing personal bests throughout the competition.
Head coach Paul Myers expressed immense pride in the team's efforts.
"Our swimmers have trained tirelessly, qualified to compete, and their hard work has truly paid off. We are thrilled with their performances and the camaraderie they displayed throughout the competition," he said.
The event also emphasised the importance of community and sportsmanship, with participants and spectators alike enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and the spirit of friendly competition.
As the championships concluded, the Warragul Swimming Club looks forward to building on this success and continuing to foster a love for swimming within the community.
The club congratulated all of its swimmers, coaches, and supporters for making the event a memorable one.
