West Gippsland Healthcare Group has received State Government funding for new surgical equipment.
The funding, totalling $633,000 is part of a $20 million addition to the government's Surgical Equipment Innovation Fund.
WGHG chief executive officer Dan Weeks said the funding paid for a number of new items and equipment that were ordered last Tuesday.
The new items include an anaesthetic machine, laparoscopes and a variety of instruments for different surgeries and anaesthetics.
Mr Weeks said the new equipment would increase capacity and allow for more surgeries to be performed.
WGHG is one of 38 hospitals sharing $105 million worth of funding for new equipment across three different funding schemes.
Twenty-one regional hospitals are upgrading and replacing 178 pieces of equipment.
Premier Daniel Andrews said the funding was part of the government's plan to help hospitals meet demands.
"We're supporting our hardworking healthcare workers with the very best hospitals, theatres, surgical tools and diagnostic equipment available, so they can keep doing what they do best – saving lives," he said.
Monash Health and Latrobe Regional Hospital are amongst those also receiving funding.
