Return of the 80s

Dust off your fluro gear, tease up your hair and get ready to turn back time when the Forever 80s band return to the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Saturday September 2.
Back by popular demand, Blue Steel, Misfit, Van Whalin', PC Heartbreaker and Jimmy Stixx are bringing their new show, "Neon Nights", to Warragul.
Similar to their last show, "The Best of the 80s", audiences attending the "Neon Nights" show can expect all the classic 80s hits, like songs by A-Ha, Queen and Whitney Houston, but also a mix of songs that they might not have heard in a while, sending them on an 80s nostalgia trip.
"The best of the 80s tour was all classic 80s songs," said leading male vocalist Blue Steel. "Neon Nights has a mix of classics but we basically turn the theatre into an 80s nightclub."
The Forever 80s show has been performing for the past seven years, touring all over the country. Blue Steel said the band enjoy the opportunity to play for regional audiences.
"We absolutely love the crowd, they really get into it," he said. "They appreciate us coming, they get really into it because they don't often get the opportunity to see big shows."
Blue Steel said the Forever 80s band spend a lot of time learning the songs they perform, mastering the styles of each artist and getting epic guitar solos note for note perfect.
"Expect to hear songs that no other 80s band would attempt to take on," Blue Steel said.
You don't have to have grown up in the 80s to enjoy the Neon Nights show. The band often attracts an audience of younger people who have been immersed in 80s music throughout their life, sometimes as young as six years old! Blue Steel recommends that anyone looking for a fun night of music, singing and big hair should come along.
"The show is for all ages, it's a fun night out for the whole family," he said. "We get a lot of young people as well, they hear the songs everywhere!"
The Forever 80s band members enjoy getting to know their audience during and after the shows.
"You can actually get to know us, we talk to the audience, we take photos with them after the show," Blue Steel said.
A highlight of the "Neon Nights" show is the opening act, the tone setter for the evening.
"I love the very first song," Blue Steel said. "When it hits, the crowds go wild, it sets the scene for the whole night."
The Forever 80s Band "Neon Nights" tour hits the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Saturday September 2 at 8:00pm. The show runs for two hours including intermission. All tickets are $54.60 and are available to purchase at the Arts Centre website.
