On Sunday May 5, five members from the local Wild Dog Triathlon Club travelled to Port Macquarie to take on Ironman Australia and the Oceania TriClub Championship.
Competitors in the event took on the 3.8km swim, 180km bicycle ride and 42.2km run.
Team Wild Dog finished in 23rd place from 148 TriClubs represented across Australia.
The weather eased a off from the heavy rains predicted to be overcast with showers during the day.
The club's first competitors began at 7:45am and competing well into the night at 11:30pm. Finishing times ranged from nine hours 20 minutes to 16 hours.
There were two first-timers in Justin Bersey and Brittnee Dhondt.
Chris Roberts and local Port Ironman legend Niall Thompson, in his 24th Ironman Australia, competed as well.
Damien Smith tore up the course, finishing second in his age group 40-44 years.
Well done to Damien as he looks forward to representing Australia at the World Championships in Townsville in August.
