Hawks fire against Parrots in Gippsland League

Drouin's senior netballers all had strong wins against Leongatha on Saturday.
The 15 and under team also enjoyed a 12-goal win.
A grade: Drouin 62 defeated Leongatha 42
The Hawks were connected as a whole team, prepared to do the one percenters, chased lose balls and backed each other up.
The defenders were relentless all day, mixing up their defensive structures and applying extreme pressure to create turnovers.
April Bethune had the ball on a string, reading the play and coming through for countless clean intercepts.
The Hawks' centre pass connection was fantastic. Karina Healy dominated centre pass receives, with Ella Henderson moving into the wing attack role seamlessly in the second half.
They also showed how versatile the attack end is and transitioned with ease when changes were made.

B grade: Drouin 64 defeated Leongatha 57
The Hawks were switched on and ready for a tough battle against a talented Leongatha side.
The girls had a specific game plan and executed it superbly for four quarters.
The first quarter was outstanding, the side shooting a massive 18 goals. The Hawks were composed, calm in attack and relentless in defence.
Chelsea De Riter and Lainey Downey combined beautifully in defence. Their rebounding was exceptional.
Ruby Pratt showed great leadership, with the group of young guns around her using her voice and precision feeding to control the attack end.
C grade: Drouin 46 defeated Leongatha 33
Drouin had a good win against a tough Leongatha side.
Grace Henderson and Jess Murray were on their game. Their combination grows in strength the more time they are out on court together.
In addition, the pressure from Alice McKellar and Kate Butler out in front of them was great.
Even against tough team, the Hawks were able to extend the lead each quarter. It was one of their best team games, with everyone playing their role.

17 and under: Drouin 30 lost to Leongatha 44
It was tough day for the Hawks against a very strong Leongatha side.
The team learnt some valuable lessons and will try to implement them over the coming weeks to compete with the top teams.
15 and under: Drouin 45 defeated Leongatha 33
The Hawks were firing and ready for a great game from the get go.
They led the Parrots by two goals at quarter time, and continued to build strongly on this lead each quarter, coming away with a great win.
The whole team worked together beautifully and played for each other.
In the midcourt, Evie Piner, Ava Pask and Makaylah Monckton used their speed, precision and defensive pressure to bring the ball into the attack end.
Goalers Fiona Nalder and Cleo Traumanis connected well and goaled accurately.
In defence, Amber Hammond, Chloe Walsh and Emmy Kneebone got turnover after turnover, alongside Sophie Cassidy in the centre.

13 and under: Drouin 13 lost to Leongatha 56
With only seven players, the girls had no option for a rest this week.
Each and every girl went out and persisted on the court.
The first half of netball wasn't one of the team's best. However, there were some good transitions down the court, allowing the Hawks to score.
Some of the girls found themselves playing positions they normally wouldn't. To their credit, they went out there and tried to excel.
The girls must have a thing about the first half, as they came out and really wanted the ball in the second half. Unfortunately, Leongatha were just too strong for the girls.
With a full team, the Hawks will hope for a closer match next time.
