West Gippsland Hospital's annual equipment appeal was launched last week.
The annual appeal aims to raise funds to purchase much-needed medical equipment for the hospital and its aged care residences.
West Gippsland Healthcare Group board chair Jo-Anne Moorfoot said the annual equipment appeal was a major fundraiser for the health service.
"The main focus of the WGHG annual appeal is to raise funds for vital medical equipment not covered by government funding.
"This year we are seeking to raise funds for eight key medical items needed by our patients and clients, doctors, nurses and allied health staff.
"The equipment purchased will assist our maternity unit, theatre, emergency department, consulting suites, haemodialysis, physiotherapy, medical unit and our learning and development unit.
"Every donation helps, and we look forward to the support of this year's appeal from the community," she said.
Chief executive officer Dan Weeks said he was grateful for the ongoing support the hospital received from the community.
"We have eight key items this year that we are wanting to purchase and welcome any donation towards any of them.
"This year we are hoping to raise enough money to purchase a birthing bed for our maternity unit, a bladder scanner and probe for our consulting suites, stretcher trolleys for our emergency department and a defibrillator for our medical unit.
"With the end of the financial year approaching, community members and businesses may wish to contribute to our appeal, with all donations of $2 and over tax deductible," he said.
A flyer with donation form attached has been released to help people make donations easily. The flyer also is available in this edition and next week's edition of The Gazette.
