Neerim South remain undefeated after a single-goal victory over Ellinbank in Ellinbank and District netball.
The Eagles came out firing in the A grade clash on Saturday, keen to bounce back after an unexpected loss to Poowong. However, despite trailing by five at half-time, the Cats showed composure to claw back for a 47-46 victory.
Yarragon scored its best win of the season and signalled they are ready to be part of finals action. The Panthers defeated fifth placed Lang Lang, 48-45.
A good start from Buln Buln proved too much for Poowong to overcome, with the Lyrebirds winning 49-42.
In the final game, second placed Nilma Darnum got a strong win over fifth placed Trafalgar, 61-39.
However, many eyes were on Ellinbank for the rematch of last year's grand final.
In front of a huge home crowd, the third ranked side was level at quarter time and led 26-21 at half-time.
However, having been undefeated for the past two and a bit seasons, the Cats went on a run of goals to get the game back on their terms. They led 37-33 at the last break.
The crowd got loud in the last quarter, with Ellinbank levelling the scores. However, a late break gave the Cats the lead and the Eagles - despite having a shot on goal in the dying seconds - couldn't level.
With little separating sides from fourth to 10th, Yarragon pulled off a great win to sitjust outside the top five on percentage.
They were level with Lang Lang at quarter time, before a four-goal opening burst gave Yarragon the lead. They held this throughout the second to lead by two at half-time.
Yarragon scored seven goals to two late in the closing five minutes to open a 37-31 lead.
However, the Tigers got the margin back to two goals early in the last. This margin held throughout most of the quarter, with the Panthers leading by three when the whistle was blown.
Buln Buln now sit less than one percentage point behind Yarragon in seventh after their win over Poowong, who are on game further back in eighth.
Trafalgar remain in fourth despite a loss to second placed Nilma Darnum due to a stronger percentage.
Next week's games: Neerim South v Buln Buln; Yarragon v Poowong; Trafalgar v Lang Lang and Longwarry v Catani. Nilma Darnum and Ellinbank have byes.
